Hiskiel Group Canada Inc.’s successful journey in New Brunswick began with a simple inquiry to ONB’s Business Navigators. CEO Joseph Saint Louis sought guidance for registering his import-export corporation and was introduced to the Corporate Registry and the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries (DAAF) to help with his herring and lobster export plans.

Recognizing the tremendous value of our Business Navigators, Joseph consistently relied on their support to navigate his business’s complexities. Through their assistance, the company established connections with eight public and private partners in under ten months; each contributing expertise in legal advice, export regulations, wage subsidies, cost-saving strategies, and more.

“We were operating exclusively out of Nova Scotia when I first connected with ONB’s Business Navigators. When I saw just how quickly they could help with a variety of inquiries both big and small, I decided to make the move into New Brunswick,” says Saint Louis. “Things get done swiftly in New Brunswick – that was the message. It really was a deciding factor.”

“ONB follows up as well. If they haven’t heard from you in a few days, they reach out to ensure you’re still moving forward,” says COO, Aisha Celestin. “That level of personal service really stood out to me. It’s not about simply giving you information and moving on. They stay with you until your challenges are resolved.”

By March 2023, Hiskiel Group Canada Inc. had exported $130,000 USD, placing them among the 39 companies successful enough to vie for one of ONB’s annual Export Awards. The company’s swift success is a prime example of collaboration across government, partners, colleagues, and the broader business network yielding remarkable results. Supporting the Hiskiel team and other entrepreneurs in New Brunswick by connecting them with valuable resources and partners is a core aspect of ONB’s Business Navigators support. We are grateful to collaborate with dedicated individuals across the province who are committed to our local economy’s success.
