The New Brunswick Export Awards, Opportunities NB’s (ONB) annual salute to the province’s many successful exporting companies, is back after a two-year hiatus and there will certainly be much to celebrate. The flagship event recognizes the business savviness and entrepreneurial spirit of New Brunswick companies that have achieved recent or ongoing success in various export markets.

“New Brunswick companies continually put in the work needed to grow their export sales and sell their products and services all over the world,” says Brian Deveau, ONB’s Director of Export Development. “That’s why we are thrilled to be able to present the Export Awards again this year. These awards offer much-needed recognition of our exporting companies and provide a chance to celebrate their hard work and effort.”

Among the many lessons learned in the past two years, has been the resilient and innovative nature of our local companies and their commitment to success even in the toughest of times. Here’s why recognizing that success matters.

Applause. Applause.

While New Brunswickers tend to be humble, it’s important that we occasionally take a moment to celebrate the success of our many world-class businesses. The NB Export Awards are a great chance to do exactly that. The gala event is a unique opportunity to increase the profile of New Brunswick exporters and highlight the benefits of exporting made-in-NB products and services globally.

“The award really does establish a great amount of pride in your employees, partners, and customers. It’s good to be associated with an award-winning company,” noted Blair Hyslop, Co-Owner of Mrs. Dunster’s in 2018. “We know our employees took a great deal of pride in the fact that we won last year. It helps increase employee morale and attracts top talent; great people want to work for great companies. One way to establish yourself as a top employer in your region is to stand up and take credit for the fine work you and your team are doing.” (Read the full interview here.)

Exports Drive Our Economy Forward

ONB’s Export Development Team offers New Brunswick companies of all sizes expertise and guidance on reaching new international markets and developing their export potential. This past fiscal year saw a total of 457 unique companies supported by ONB through 1-on-1 counseling and events. That team also helped 36 New Brunswick-based businesses export into 94 export markets over the course of the fiscal year. The total projected sales resulting from these activities is over $22M for New Brunswick companies.

New Brunswick continues to be one of the most export-driven economies in Canada, and fortunately, we have many great export success stories to tout. Companies of every size including past winners Masitek Instruments, Lizotte Machine Vision, Bouctouche Bay Industries, Measurand, Atlantic Industries Limited (AIL), InteliSys Aviation Systems, and more are reaching multiple international markets, and seeing exciting business and workforce growth in the process.

These awards are important to the ONB team, and we are thrilled to see them return after two years of dormancy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Celebrating our exporters is vital, as success in international markets takes an exceptional amount of time and hard work. The process of exporting has become more complex and challenging, but also more rewarding. ONB is a long-term partner for New Brunswick exporters, and like them, we are in the game to win.

The Export Award event is a time to reflect on the past, congratulate our companies on their wins, connect with like-minded professionals, and celebrate everything we love about this beautiful province.

The gala event will take place in person on Thursday, May 26 at the Delta Fredericton with the reception beginning at 5:30 pm followed by a formal dinner with local food and beverage, and a much-anticipated awards ceremony. There will also be a training/learning session held on May 26 in the afternoon, prior to the gala, to provide valuable information to NB exporters (details to come).
