At Opportunities NB (ONB), investing in New Brunswick’s youth is a priority. We are always on the lookout for new ways to support our youth in gaining professional experience, training, network building, and mentorship. We firmly believe that when we invest in our young people, we all win.
Hajar Abdessamie is a recent graduate of École Sainte-Anne in Fredericton. She is heavily involved in multiple local youth councils and loves to give back to her community. Hajar has also been recognized as one of this year’s Terry Fox Humanitarian Award recipients announced on July 6.
Global Vision is a national non-profit registered Canadian charitable organization which operates the Junior Team Canada (JTC) program. Each year, Global Vision selects 35 youth from hundreds of applicants across the country to represent their communities in China. These youth actively promote Canadian industry, organizations, and partnerships with China.
Hajar Abdessamie has been selected to represent New Brunswick as part of the 2018 contingent! This year’s Trade Mission will take place from July 25 to August 9.
Hajar and her fellow Canadians will work with the Embassy of Canada, the Canada-China Business Council (CCBC) and other partners to engage Chinese industry, government, academic, and youth leaders, gaining valuable market intelligence and key contacts for Canadian interests.
Bringing New Brunswick to the World
As ONB CEO Stephen Lund has noted, “ONB exists to bring New Brunswick to the world and the world to New Brunswick.” Our team also recognizes the importance of China as a destination for Canadian businesses looking to diversify their export markets. That’s why ONB is proud to sponsor Hajar’s mission to China, assisting her with a portion of her travel expenses.
Please join us in congratulating Hajar on her participation in this year’s mission. We know she will make us all NB Proud.
