At the heart of fostering talent and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow, the ONB Student Program is a beacon of opportunity. I am Jasmine Le, and my summer internship with the ONB Marketing and Communications Team has been a whirlwind of growth and exploration. From writing compelling blog articles to crafting insightful analytics dashboards, my days at ONB have seamlessly intertwined classroom theories with practical applications.
Come along as we embark on a vibrant day – a glimpse into the dynamic world of an ONB student.
8:00 AM
Since I don’t have a car, I hop on the bus to reach the downtown Fredericton office. I enjoy the bus ride as it gives me a chance to look at the city and listen to my favourite songs. It’s a great way to start the day.
Here it is – the bus that takes me to work every day!
8:10 AM
I hop off at Kings Place Mall. From there, I take a 5-minute walk to the office, relishing the crisp morning air and taking in the sights and sounds of the city waking up. It’s a peaceful moment that helps set a positive tone for the day ahead.
What a beautiful day!
8:15 AM
Stepping into the office, I am met with friendly faces — my fellow interns and colleagues. We exchange morning hellos, creating a welcoming start to the day. It’s like being part of a close-knit team where everyone’s excited to collaborate and contribute.
Meet other summer students: Gabby, Annika, and Claudia
8:20 AM
After settling in, I check my emails and calendar, mapping out my tasks for the day and making sure I’m well-prepared for any meetings ahead. This helps me stay organized and ensures that I won’t miss anything important.
8:30 AM
I dive into one of the most exciting parts of my day – working on the analytics dashboards for our recent marketing campaigns. It’s a hands-on opportunity that allows me to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to real-world scenarios. I’m constantly learning, adapting, and growing!

9:30 AM
It’s time for our weekly student meeting focused on enhancing soft skills. We engage in discussions that sharpen our communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities. These meetings are not just about acquiring new skills; they’re about fostering a supportive community.
These student meetings are always fun and enriching!
11:00 AM
I join another meeting on Microsoft Teams. One of the best aspects of ONB’s working environment is its flexibility. Whether we’re in the office, occasionally working from home, or collaborating across multiple New Brunswick offices, the seamless communication via Teams keeps us well connected. We discuss ongoing projects, share insights, and brainstorm ideas. This dynamic environment not only enhances productivity but also highlights ONB’s commitment to adaptability and innovation.
11:30 AM
I typically visit the employee-funded ‘Snack Shack’ before lunch. It’s not just about the snacks; it’s about the impromptu chats, sharing stories, and building connections. Whether it’s grabbing a handful of nuts or a piece of fruit, this communal space fuels not only our energy but also the camaraderie that makes ONB such a welcoming place.
Lots of delicious options!
12:00 AM
Time for lunch! It’s a chance to recharge and reflect before diving back into the exciting tasks that lie ahead.
1:00 PM
This afternoon, I’m working on my final internship presentation. It’s a culmination of my ONB journey, a chance to showcase not just the work I’ve done, but the growth and insights I’ve gained. It’s hard to believe that my internship is almost over – these past weeks have been a whirlwind of valuable learning experiences.
4:30 PM
As the clock inches towards 4:30 PM, I begin to wind down my day. I sign off my computer, gather my belongings, and say goodbye to the other interns.
That’s it – a day in my life as a student at ONB!
The blend of hands-on tasks, skills development, and exposure to a professional work setting has not only enhanced my academic learning but paved the way for personal growth. I am grateful for the mentorship, experiences, friendships forged, and valuable lessons learned. It’s a chance to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world application, dive into meaningful projects, and discover your potential in a supportive and dynamic environment.-
