May 17, 2022, FREDERICTON (GNB) – Thirty-seven of the province’s highest-performing export companies have been nominated for this year’s New Brunswick Export Awards.
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions, the awards gala will be held in person at the Delta Fredericton on May 26.
“The Export Awards are an excellent opportunity to highlight the successes of New Brunswick exporters and recognize their significant contribution to our overall provincial economy,” said Arlene Dunn, minister responsible for Opportunities NB. “Not only have these innovative companies been leaders in their sectors, but they have done so through a challenging time where innovation and agility were even more important.”
There will be two Exporter of the Year awards: one for a company with export sales of less than $5 million, and another for a company with export sales of more than $5 million.
The remaining awards are presented in three categories:
- Emerging Exporter of the Year
- Global Diversification
- Innovative Exporter of the Year
The winners are selected by a panel of experts from industry and academia. Judges are chosen based on their knowledge of the New Brunswick business community and international trade.
In addition, Opportunities NB will present the Impact Award to a company that is new to the province or one that continues to increase its presence and demonstrate its commitment to the province through reinvestment. A new Resilience Award will be presented, recognizing a New Brunswick exporter that has shown particular resilience in navigating its business and its people through uncertain times and delivered innovative thinking to overcome obstacles presented by the pandemic.
“At Opportunities NB, we are committed to accelerating the growth of our exporting industries,” said CEO Sadie Perron. “With 43 per cent of Atlantic exports originating in New Brunswick, our province is an exporting powerhouse. By providing New Brunswick businesses with effective support, guidance and tools they require to grow, we are building a stronger, more resilient and competitive economy.”
The awards are sponsored by: platinum sponsor Export Development Canada; silver sponsors: New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, Business Development Canada, Port of Belledune, Port Saint John; and bronze sponsors: Fredericton International Airport Authority, Bathurst Airport, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters.
