August 13, 2018, BOUCTOUCHE (GNB) — Systemair, a ventilation equipment manufacturer in Bouctouche, is undertaking a $4-million capital expansion with support from the provincial and federal governments. The investment is also expected to create 12 jobs.
“I would like to congratulate the Systemair team on this sizable expansion,” said Health Minister Benoît Bourque. “Having an industry-leading company like Systemair expand in Bouctouche shows that our multi-year economic growth plan is working.”
Bourque spoke on behalf of Economic Development Minister Francine Landry, who is also the minister responsible for Opportunities NB.
“New Brunswick continues to impress us with the opportunities available within the province,” said company CEO Roland Kasper. “Systemair holds a strong position as a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient ventilation products in several geographic markets, and our presence in New Brunswick contributes to this reputation. With support from Opportunities NB we will welcome 12 new members to our team and continue to grow and invest in our business.”
To support this expansion, the company is eligible for a $700,000 contribution from Opportunities NB, which is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs.
Systemair is also eligible for a repayable contribution of $1 million from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
It is estimated that the new jobs will generate annual income tax of about $4,000 for each of the 12 positions and contribute to a $1-million increase in the province’s GDP.
Systemair, which is headquartered in Sweden, has operated in Bouctouche since 1996. That facility is the company’s North American centre of development and employs 130 people.
