March 15, 2016, SUSSEX (GNB) – Three Sussex area businesses will create 39 new jobs as they increase their exports and competitiveness with support from Opportunities NB, Premier Brian Gallant announced today.
“Supporting established companies to increase their exports, and increasing the export readiness of other companies are key to creating jobs here at home,” said Gallant. “We have been working with Sussex area businesses to expand their facilities and market growth. Understandably, it does not replace the huge job loss that was experienced in January, but it goes a long way to instill optimism, one job a time.”
The three companies will benefit from a combined investment of $365,000 from the provincial government. The combined investment by the companies and government will contribute $6.3 million annually to the province’s gross domestic product.
“All three companies have been working with business development executives in the regional office at Opportunities NB to develop specific growth plans for their businesses,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet, who is also minister responsible for Opportunities NB. “These are the results we can see when they can have access to the types of investment and support we have available for New Brunswick companies looking to expand their operations and markets.”
Opportunities NB is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs. It provides support services for businesses across the province.
