September 10, 2015, MONCTON (GNB) – Nordia Inc., a leading customer service provider, is expanding operations in Moncton and creating 275 new jobs with the help of the provincial government. The company will announce a further expansion and additional new jobs in Saint John on Sept. 11.

“People want to work in New Brunswick, that is why we are focused on creating jobs,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “We are excited to see this major expansion by Nordia, which will bring new jobs and investment to the province.”

Opportunities NB is providing the company with a payroll rebate of up to $853,125. The new jobs will be created over the next three years. The overall investment in both locations is expected to increase the provincial GDP by about $17.7 million annually.

“The key to Nordia’s success is attracting and retaining the most skilled and passionate customer service representatives,” said John DiNardo, president and CEO of Nordia. “That is why we chose New Brunswick and have invested more than $5.1 million in upgrading and expanding our centres in Moncton and Saint John in the past year. Our formula is simple: offer industry-best compensation, great career opportunities and an exceptional work environment.”

The company expansion is in addition to 157 jobs it created in the province last year.

“In order to grow the economy you must have a workforce with the skills that businesses desire in today’s world,” said Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers. “We have the skilled workforce that Nordia is looking for and we are pleased with the confidence it has shown in our people to succeed in the telecommunications industry. This is great news for the region as the government focuses on job creation and growing the economy.”

Rogers spoke on behalf of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet, who is also minister responsible for Opportunities NB.

Established in 1999, Nordia employs more than 4,100 people working in 12 customer service centres across the country. The company provides a wide range of support to help customers get the most out of their services and resolve issues. Nordia’s services include customer support (billing, service, technical), sales and loyalty, directory assistance, and teleconferencing, as well as technology-assisted relay services to facilitate communication for hearing and speech-impaired customers.

Opportunities NB is a provincial government agency which seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the New Brunswick economy and create jobs. It provides business support services for small and medium-sized, as well as large businesses across the province.
