May 30, 2016, FREDERICTON (GNB) – More than 30 New Brunswick export-driven companies are finalists for the 2016 Export Awards, which will be presented at a gala on June 2 in Fredericton. The awards recognize outstanding export performance in the international marketplace.

“Our companies are experiencing significant growth in export markets,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet, who is also minister responsible for Opportunities NB. “We are ready to celebrate the business savvy, entrepreneurship and innovation that make us proud.”

Opportunities NB will host the awards with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the New Brunswick division of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters. Awards are given in five categories:

  • Exporter of the Year;
  • Innovator of the Year;
  • Global Diversification Award;
  • Emerging Exporter of the Year; and
  • Foreign-Owned Exporter.

“Supporting growth through export is an effective way to help our businesses create good quality jobs and wealth for Canadians,” said Innovation, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains, who is also minister responsible for ACOA. “That is why our government is working hard to help pave the way to global market access for businesses through trade agreements.”

The winners are selected by a judging panel made up of business experts from academia and the private sector. Judges are chosen based on their knowledge of the business community and their understanding of international trade.

Tickets can be purchased online.
