Release of regulatory reform annual report

FREDERICTON (GNB) – Opportunities New Brunswick released the 2020-21 regulatory reform annual report today.

The report details efforts, measures, and achievements made by the provincial government to reduce the regulatory burden.

“I am pleased to present this report, summarizing the work we have done to reduce the regulatory burden for businesses over the last year,” said Arlene Dunn, minister responsible for Opportunities New Brunswick. “Our long-term goal for Opportunities NB is to create a competitive business environment which will enable businesses in the province to grow.”

Over the year several regulatory and legislative amendments, as well as process improvement initiatives, were undertaken to facilitate business transactions, provide pandemic support and ensure regulatory competitiveness.

“A competitive regulatory environment that is focused on the principle of lightest touch regulation is the foundation of a thriving private sector,” said Dunn. “While there is more work to do, there is much to be proud of and I am confident, as we continue our work, that we will meet our targets yet again.”
