MONCTON (GNB) – The government is supporting cannabis producer Organigram as it undertakes a $9.3-million capital investment to modernize its flagship facility in Moncton.

“Organigram continues to push the boundaries and is continuously striving to reach the next level,” said Premier Susan Holt. “This project strengthens operations at its Moncton facility, boosts productivity and supports good jobs. When industry leaders choose to grow in New Brunswick, it reinforces that our province is a competitive, forward-looking place to do business.”

Organigram was founded in 2013 and operates state-of-the-art cultivation and manufacturing facilities across Canada, including plants in Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba. The company serves medical and adult-use cannabis markets, with a modular, strain-specific grow-room system and plant science labs to support genetics and product development.

Opportunities NB is supporting the project with a non-repayable contribution of up to $2 million. The investment is expected to increase provincial GDP by over $3.3 million and generate an estimated $424,000 in direct and indirect provincial tax revenue by the end of 2026. The project involves upgrading 9,000 lights to LED fixtures in 75 grow rooms to increase crop yields by about 10 per cent. This improvement will boost flower output, enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

“Organigram is a proud New Brunswick company, and this project represents an exciting step forward for our team and our operations,” said Organigram CEO Beena Goldenberg. “By investing in state-of-the-art upgrades and expanding our production capacity, we’re not only meeting growing domestic and international demand while delivering premium products to our customers; we’re helping fuel economic growth and proudly strengthening Canada’s agricultural economy.”

Opportunities NB is the lead business development agency for the province. It supports local businesses, attracts investment and promotes economic growth across the province.
