TRACADIE (GNB) – The provincial and federal governments are supporting the modernization and expansion of MQM Quality Manufacturing in Tracadie with combined investments of nearly $4.4 million.

“Manufacturing has always been an important part of New Brunswick’s economy, and we want to see that continue to grow and support good-paying jobs,” said Premier Susan Holt. “The world is changing, and we need to make sure New Brunswick businesses have the tools and technology to keep up, compete and grow. This investment will help MQM modernize its operations and support good-paying jobs right here at home.”

Through Opportunities NB, the provincial government will provide up to $875,000 for the purchase and installation of an automated steel production line, including an integrated robotic fabrication and welding system. The performance-based contribution will be provided in stages as production milestones are met.

The project is expected to generate nearly $5 million in GDP by the end of 2027 and support up to six new full-time positions.

The federal government is providing $3.5 million through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) to support two modernization projects: the purchase of a robotic manufacturing cell, which will reduce operating costs and improve efficiency, and an expansion of the company’s facility to optimize material flow, improve workflow continuity and increase manufacturing efficiency.

“MQM Quality Manufacturing is a great example of the talent and entrepreneurial spirit found in our region,” said Acadie-Bathurst MP Serge Cormier. “Behind its success are visionary leaders who believed in our region’s potential, invested in it and continue to think big, as well as skilled and dedicated employees whose work and expertise have built MQM’s reputation. This investment will help the company continue to grow, modernize its facilities and pursue new business opportunities.”

Cormier attended for federal Justice Minister Sean Fraser, who is also minister responsible for ACOA.

“MQM Quality Manufacturing Ltd. is proud to make this long-term investment in our region and in the future of the Canadian manufacturing sector,” said company president Serge Thériault. “This project will increase our production capacity and operational efficiency while supporting skilled jobs in our community. Investments like this are essential to ensuring the long-term growth and competitiveness of our company and the manufacturing sector.”
