Feb. 6, 2024, FREDERICTON (GNB) – Kyndryl, an information technology infrastructure services provider, is expanding its workforce in New Brunswick with support from the provincial government.

“New Brunswick is home to a growing tech ecosystem made up of industry leaders supporting global innovation,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Greg Turner, who is also minister responsible for Opportunities NB. “Our government is proud to attract investment from global technology brands like Kyndryl that are committed to growing in New Brunswick and dedicated to expanding our province’s tech labour force.”

Kyndryl’s services include hybrid cloud solutions, as well as security, resiliency, data and artificial intelligence services to help organizations optimize their information technology workloads and transformations.

The company will hire a mix of new graduates and professionals with a range of experience for remote and on-site positions. Kyndryl has a long-standing partnership with McCain Foods and some of these employees will work with the New Brunswick-based company.

Opportunities NB will invest up to $350,000 in the form of a payroll rebate to help Kyndryl add 43 positions by the end of 2025. This expansion is expected to contribute up to $7.9 million in direct provincial GDP.

Kyndryl Canada president Farhaz Thobani said the company is excited to partner with Opportunities NB and deliver on a shared vision for technological advancement and innovation.

“This partnership is part of our commitment to supporting the province’s focus on fostering local tech talent, creating meaningful jobs, and improving workforce skills training,” said Thobani. “We are leveraging the growing and diverse tech labour force in New Brunswick and its hotbed of cybersecurity talent to help organizations modernize, transform and grow. We are proud to contribute to the province becoming a world-renowned information technology hub, while advancing a dynamic and inclusive digital future in the region.”

“McCain has a large global digital and technology centre in Florenceville-Bristol where we drive tech innovation to support our global business,” said Manoj Kumbhat, chief technology and information officer at McCain Foods. “The job growth in our province is crucial in building a technology ecosystem, which will be the catalyst for future progress and the cornerstone of a thriving community. Access to this talent for McCain in the area will further strengthen our partnership, and it is exciting to know that a number of these positions will be based in Kyndryl’s office in Florenceville-Bristol.”

Hiring has begun and employment opportunities are available on the company’s website.

Opportunities NB is a Crown corporation and the lead economic development agency for the province. It seeks to attract and support opportunities to stimulate the economy and create jobs by providing support services for businesses across the province.
