For the eighth consecutive year, Opportunities NB (ONB) invited high school graduates enrolled in New Brunswick post-secondary institutions to apply for one of our five NB Proud Awards worth $2,000 each. The awards support five graduates from across New Brunswick with reaching their post-secondary education goals.
After reviewing a considerable number of great submissions from every corner of the province, we have selected our five 2024 award recipients!
- Northwest Region – Olivier Roy
- Northeast Region – Tanner Tripp
- Southwest Region – Alex Underwood
- Southeast Region – Ella Matheson
- Central Region – Haley Cairns

In New Brunswick, we recognize the need for a robust talent pipeline for industry. Student retention is essential to helping our employers meet the workforce needs they face now and in the future.
To support student retention, ONB is recognizing high school graduates who demonstrate pride in New Brunswick and a passion to remain here and contribute to the province’s growth. The NB Proud Awards encourage students to pursue their post-secondary education right here at home and help to ensure those students are prepared for opportunities within the New Brunswick workforce.
For this year’s application, candidates were asked to fulfil specific criteria which included completing the following:
- The year is 2035 and you’re living your best life in New Brunswick. In an essay of 400 to 500 words, tell us your potential/future career and how you are contributing to the province’s success and economic growth.
- Take and include a photo that relates to this subject.
