“These companies contribute greatly to the economic prosperity of the province by creating jobs, adding to the GDP, increasing tax revenue and attracting new skilled workers,” said Economic Development Minister Francine Landry, who is also the minister responsible for Opportunities NB. “These awards allow us to recognize the hard work and success of exporters across New Brunswick.”

The recipients of the awards were selected by a panel of business experts from academia and the private sector.

Opportunities NB, which is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs, hosted the awards in partnership with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. The event honoured the province’s top export-driven companies that work to diversify and contribute to economic development.

For the second year in a row, Opportunities NB presented the Impact Award for Investment. The award recognizes a company that has had a significant effect on the economy by choosing to invest in New Brunswick.

“The Government of Canada is committed to solidifying Canada’s advantage by strengthening our existing trade relationships and pursuing new opportunities in large and growing markets,” said federal Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor. “That is why we are proud to support initiatives like the Export Awards that renew a spirit of entrepreneurship and highlight successful and emerging exporters in this region. Congratulations to all the nominees and award recipients. Thank you for setting your sights beyond our borders, for your determination and commitment to sell your products and services to the world.”

Petitpas Taylor spoke on behalf of federal Innovation, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains, who is also the minister responsible for ACOA.
