HAMPTON (GNB) – The Smart Energy Company, a renewable energy firm based in the Upper Golden Grove area of Hampton, has expanded and hired three new employees with support from the provincial government.
“This operational and workforce expansion highlights the incredible innovation happening right here in New Brunswick, including in the clean-tech sector,” said Luke Randall, minister responsible for Opportunities NB. “New Brunswick businesses are developing Canadian-made, sustainable technologies and delivering practical solutions to global energy challenges. We are working to support the export potential of businesses in this province while creating exciting career opportunities for New Brunswickers.”
The company develops solar energy systems tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises, with a focus on the agriculture sector. Its flagship product, the Noreaster Micro-Solar Farm, helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate long-term energy savings. Designed for easy assembly and built to withstand harsh climates, the system is generating interest beyond New Brunswick.
The three new hires – an operations manager, a project manager and a supply chain and inventory analyst – have farming and agricultural experience from Carleton County, Nigeria and India. Additional positions in sales, marketing and operations will be based at the company’s head office and warehouse, with job opportunities to be posted on its website.
“After our expansion across Eastern Canada, we are now excited to grow our footprint from New Brunswick into key agricultural markets in Central Canada and the United States,” said Jeff McAloon, co-CEO of the Smart Energy Company. “This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone for us as we take our Canadian-made solar technology to a broader customer base. The support from Opportunities NB is instrumental, as it enables us to scale up our team, enhance our operations and meet the rising demand for clean, cost-effective energy solutions. We’re on a mission to help farmers reduce emissions and save $1 billion in energy costs to ensure a more sustainable future for the planet and for farm businesses.”
Opportunities NB will provide up to $125,000 in the form of a payroll rebate to support the creation of up to 10 full-time jobs. This investment is expected to contribute about $7.33 million in direct provincial GDP by the end of 2026.
Opportunities NB is the lead business development agency for the province. It supports local businesses and attracts new investment from around the globe to boost economic and job growth.
