Amid evolving global trade conditions, New Brunswick companies are adapting and thriving on the international stage with the support of ONB, and its many provincial partners. Together, we are helping local businesses expand their global reach, diversify markets, and strengthen the province’s overall economic resilience.

With supply chain disruptions, inflation, and shifting geopolitical landscapes redefining global trade, market diversification has become more important than ever. ONB’s targeted programming and strategic support are helping exporters navigate these challenges while pursuing new opportunities across North America, Europe, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Supporting our companies

Over the past year, ONB has worked to help businesses reach new customers, build global partnerships, and explore emerging markets with a growing emphasis on Europe and the Indo-Pacific. This focused approach is paying off. In fiscal year 2024–2025, ONB delivered 532 one-on-one export counselling interactions, introduced 67 clients to new markets, and facilitated the participation of 308 companies in ONB-led trade missions and international activities. These efforts are projected to generate over $175.7 million in new export sales.

Recent successes

Across the province, New Brunswick companies are leveraging ONB’s support to enter new markets and scale globally.

LuminUltra, a Fredericton-based biotech firm, has successfully expanded operations into France, with Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Middle East identified as growth targets. The company optimized its warehousing and shipping strategies to address tariff implications while continuing to grow, recruit, and expand internationally. After exhibiting at Pollutec, a major environmental and energy trade show in France, the LuminUltra team described the event as “fantastic in terms of business development – even better than North American shows.” The company is now exploring ONB’s Market Entry Development Program (MEDP) to support further EU expansion.

ONB attended DEFSEC Atlantic 2025 in Halifax alongside more than 40 New Brunswick companies to showcase the province’s defence and technology capabilities. This key event strengthened interprovincial trade relationships and demonstrated ONB’s leadership in building collaboration across industries and regions.

ONB’s biennial presence at DSEI 2025 in London, UK — one of the world’s premier defence and security exhibitions — highlighted the province’s growing defence innovation ecosystem. Fredericton’s Kognitiv Spark attracted attention with live demos of its RemoteSpark solution, expanding both business opportunities and global visibility for the province.

Remsoft has strengthened its global capabilities through two strategic acquisitions that enhance its solution portfolio. The acquisition of Lim Geomatics adds advanced geospatial intelligence, LiDAR-based analytics, and real-time telematics for accurate harvesting data, enabling precision planning and operational insights. More recently, acquiring LOGR, an Australian forestry-technology innovator, introduces electronic transportation certificates that digitize wood movement across the supply chain, expanding Remsoft’s cloud-based ecosystem to optimize the entire forest value chain. To accelerate international growth, Remsoft has also applied to ONB’s MEDP program for market expansion support.

The ALL IN AI conference in Montreal provided another platform for showcasing New Brunswick’s growing innovation sector. Fourteen New Brunswick companies participated, collectively reporting several millions in potential export sales and investment.

Global vision = local growth

New Brunswick’s exporters are demonstrating that with the right mix of innovation, collaboration, and support, our small province can have a big impact in global markets. From IT to forestry, aquaculture to cleantech, companies are proving that diversification is key to long-term success. ONB’s global engagement strategy continues to evolve, with new missions and trade opportunities planned across Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and North America. These initiatives aim to help more New Brunswick companies access high-growth markets, build export capacity, and forge lasting international partnerships.
