Chosen for their diversity, passion for change, and experience developing local and international markets, Opportunities NB’s (ONB) board of directors helps set the vision for New Brunswick’s economic future.

This winter, ONB is thrilled to welcome four new members to our board. These incredible New Brunswick business leaders bring years of business experience, strategic thinking, and sound judgment to the table. They each embody ONB’s high standards and four key organizational values – excellence, integrity, initiative, and accountability.

Without further ado, meet the newest additions to the ONB board.

Gilles Cormier

Gilles brings with him a wealth of accomplishments, including over ten years in academic leadership positions both in Canada and abroad. For 22 years he worked for Université de Moncton, with five of those years as Dean of Engineering. He is also a former Dean of Engineering at Alfaisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he established its inaugural College of Engineering advisory board. He was previously the Dean of Engineering and Acting Chief Academic Officer at the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait. He is now self-employed as an Industrial Engineering and Educational Consultant.

Andrea Feunekes

Andrea has built Remsoft into a world leader in the field of sustainable resource management and asset lifecycle optimization. Under her leadership (since 1992) Remsoft has grown from a startup to one of the world’s leading providers of advanced analytics, modeling, and spatial planning technology. Remsoft currently serves over 150 clients on six continents collectively managing over half a billion acres of land using Remsoft software.

Andrea is also heavily involved in her community as a volunteer. She has served as co-chair of the New Brunswick Business Council and sits on the boards for The Wallace McCain Institute, the Stan Cassidy Foundation, and a major global manufacturer in the paper industry. She is a recipient of RBC’s Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award and Startup Canada Adam Chowaniec Lifetime Achievement Award. She was also named an Edelman Laureate by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).

Andrew McLaughlin

Andrew McLaughlin is the VP Legal Affairs, General Counsel and ESG Lead at Major Drilling Group International. In 2018, he was named a Lexpert Rising Star for leading Canadian lawyers under 40, and selected as an Emerging Canadian Leader by the Banff Forum. He previously served as a diplomat at the Canadian embassies in Havana and Mexico City. Andrew is a co-founder and director of Casa Canada Cuba, a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization aimed at establishing a dedicated Canada-Cuba cultural center in the heart of Havana’s historic old city.

Andrée Savoie

Since 2016, Andrée has been President & CEO of Adelin Properties Ltd., a commercial real estate development and property management company. She is the former President and Managing Director of Acadian Construction (1991) Ltd. For nearly a decade, she has been a director of the board of Assumption Mutual Life Insurance Company, where she also served on the Audit and Review, Investments, and Human Resources committees. She also previously served as Vice-Chair of the board before being appointed Chair of both the board and its Governance Committee. Since 2015, she has sat on the board of the Greater Moncton YMCA Foundation Inc., serving as Vice-Chair since April 2017. She is a current member of the board of National Bank.

She has received the Certified Director designation (ICD.D) from the Institute of Corporate Directors. Andrée is also highly involved in her community: she is a member of the Université de Moncton Evolution campaign office and is Co-Founder of Crossroads 250 (now Rock Run Atlantic), an annual fundraising event in support of women and children living in situations of domestic violence.
