June 11, 2018, SAINT JOHN (GNB) – TD Insurance is expanding its business in Saint John and creating up to 250 new jobs over the next seven years in partnership with the provincial government.

“New Brunswick is a world leader in the business services sector thanks to our strong workforce,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “The business services sector is an important part of your government’s multi-year economic growth plan, and we are pleased that TD Insurance continues to invest in New Brunswick and create jobs for families in our province.”

Once all the positions are created, the expansion would contribute an estimated $15.5 million to the GDP and $669,000 in provincial income taxes annually.

“In a province that offers a good quality of life, a welcoming culture and wonderful people, we are proud to continue to grow the TD presence in New Brunswick,” said Frank McKenna, deputy chair of TD Bank Group.

The Saint John business services centre opened in 1994 and continues to expand. As part of its expansion plan, the company is investing $7 million in upgrades to its facilities.

“TD Insurance is delighted to continue this strong partnership with the Province of New Brunswick and grow our presence in Saint John,” said Kenn Lalonde, president and CEO of TD Insurance. “Our business in this community is integral to the service and support that we provide to our customers, and the people of Saint John have helped us to deliver great results over the years. We look forward to growing our team and continuing to provide legendary experiences to our customers across the country.”

To support the creation of these jobs, TD Insurance is eligible for an investment of up to $4.765 million from Opportunities NB, which is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs. It provides support services for businesses across the province.

The province’s business services centre sector employs 18,000 people and contributes an estimated $1 billion to the province’s GDP annually. The industry is identified as a strategic opportunity in the multi-year New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan.
